I know we have to purchase the Genie+ by the day, so how much does it cost?

    Hiya, Laura!

I love it when a fellow super planner visits us here at planDisney. March is just around the river bend, so let’s explore the details of the very useful Disney Genie+ Service. With it, you can kiss those longer standby queues goodbye, and focus on spending more time enjoying the theme parks with your family.

The cost of Disney Genie+ is released at midnight on the day of, which is also the time when you can begin purchasing it in the My Disney Experience App. It’s usually around $15-30 per person per day. However, these prices vary by the day and the theme park that you’re visiting. For example, I paid $35 (plus tax) for Disney Genie+ for the super popular Magic Kingdom Park during the week of Thanksgiving this year.

To get access to most theme park attractions’ Lightning Lanes, you’ll need Disney Genie+. Although Disney Genie+ can be purchased at midnight, you don’t have to purchase it until you’re ready to do so that day. But keep in mind that you can begin making Lightning Lane selections at 7 a.m., so purchase it before then if you can in order to maximize your time.

AN EXTRA GEM: Although all attractions at Walt Disney World Resort are “top tier” in my book, those ultra highly sought after rides require an Individual Lightning Lane purchase instead of Disney Genie+. If you want to bypass the standby queues for those, you’ll want to buy that instead or in addition to Disney Genie+. At the moment, the following attractions need an Individual Lightning Lane purchase if you want to use the speedier Lightning Lane:

TRON Lightcycle / Run at Magic Kingdom Park
Seven Dwarfs Mine Train at Magic Kingdom Park
Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind at EPCOT
Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance at Disney’s Hollywood Studios
Avatar Flight of Passage at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park

While you’re at The Most Magical Place on Earth, definitely check out the EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival. The flowers are blooming everywhere, the food is delicious, and there are loads of good times to be had! Laura, please give us a holler if you need any suggestions or have questions about your upcoming adventure. I’m all ears!

    Magic always,
