Hello Dana! Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel.
Last Spring, my family had booked a week long stay at
Disney's Beach Club Resort. Fortunately for us, our schedule plans changed to allow us to increase our vacation to 10 days. Unfortunately, by the time we knew we could extend Disney's Beach Club was not available to be booked for those additional days. Instead we found that a
Royal Room at Disney's Port Orleans Resort - Riverside was available for the extra 3 days. Not only did we get to extend our vacation, but my family discovered one of our new favorite resorts.
Like most things at Walt Disney World, there is just enough pixie dust to ensure that switching resort hotels mid-vacation is as seamless as possible. When planning, book each Walt Disney World Resort Hotel separately with your check-out day from your first location as the same as your check-in day for your next. On the day of your switch, bring your packed luggage (the only downside to switching resorts is repacking) to the Bell Services desk at your Walt Disney World Resort. Speak with a Cast Member informing them that you will be switching resorts and they will magically transport your luggage to the Bell Services desk at your next Walt Disney World Resort hotel.
My family spent our resort-switch day at Epcot then boarded the Complimentary Resort Transportation to our new Walt Disney World Resort, picked up our luggage and checked-in at the Front Desk. The entire process added only about 15 minutes to our regular scheduled day, with the only difference being that our ambiance changed from beach front, casual elegance to Southern romance on the bayou.
