i know that the parks do something special at opening time, but can you elaborate on exactly what kind of festivities there is - think my little one would like it - how early do you need to be at parks in order to really enjoy whats happening?

    Hello Dawn!

Every Walt Disney World Park has a unique "Opening Ceremony" and only the brave of heart (those who are willing to get up early on vacation) get to witness these magical shows! The opening ceremonies occur right before the Park opens, usually about 5-10 minutes before the official Park opening time. I would recommend that you show up 20 to 30 minutes before the official Park opening time so that you can go through the bag check and ticket stations and get to the area just inside the Park where the opening ceremony takes place.

My all time favorite opening ceremony is at Magic Kingdom, where there is signing and dancing at the Walt Disney World Railroad Station as well as a special appearance of Mickey and friends, who arrive on a train to greet the guests.  A specially picked family helps Mickey count down to open the Magic Kingdom.  My second favorite is the Animal Kingdom opening ceremony with appearances by some of your favorite Disney Characters parading in front of the Tree of Life.  At Epcot a young child gets to open the park with a magic wand and a family gets to make a special appearance in a Test Track Car along with some Disney Characters.  In Hollywood Studios, they shoot a movie scene with a lucky couple or a small family.

All of these opening ceremonies are amazing and not to be missed!

I hope that you make some magical opening ceremony memories with your little one on your next trip to Walt Disney World!
