Hi there, Ric, and welcome to planDisney!
Your most magical vacation has just begun, and I’ll be more than happy to answer your question. Let’s get into it!
As you’ve noticed, the older MagicBands do not need to be charged. Although the batteries are said to last only a couple of years, my husband still uses his original olive green MagicBand to this day (it’s been around 4 years!). While there is no way to pre-check if your daughter’s MagicBand will work, the fact that it is showing up in your
My Disney Experience app is a great sign!
The only way to know for sure if an older MagicBand model will work is to bring it along with you to the Most Magical Place on Earth. If you’re staying on property and the band is indeed linked, see if it will open your Resort hotel room door upon arrival. Or when it’s time to check out the theme parks, of course, you’ll see if it works at the Mickey-shaped entry point.
If this last-minute check does turn out to be faulty, Hakuna Matata! Her ticket should still be linked in your “Tickets and Passes” in your My Disney Experience app. You can check into the theme park and access Lightning Lanes via the app.
AN EXTRA GEM: With your MagicBand+ in tow, too, you can do all of the things your older band can do, but you can also interact with your surroundings while at the parks. It also has a cool light-up display that reacts to certain environments, like when you’re watching nighttime spectaculars.
Ric, I hope that you and your family have the BEST vacation! Be sure to check out the
EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival. The Global Marketplaces are scattered throughout the parks, and you’ll no doubt sample a food or drink that you’ll fall in love with. Also, if you’re a Figment fan, you can now meet this lovable character at the
Journey Into Imagination with Figment attraction. Please let us know if you have any other questions.
I’m all ears! Magic always,
LeAndra
