I know there are no microwaves in the rooms at the value resorts, so I was wondering if it would be okay to bring an electric/plug in kettle to heat water for oatmeal, etc in the room. Thanks!

    Hi Randi!

This is a great question as breakfast is the most important meal of the day, and is also a great meal to eat in your Walt Disney World Resort Hotel room as you're getting ready for a day of fun. OR if your family is anything like mine, your toddler demands food minutes after waking.

Amenities per each resort hotel room do vary based on where you're staying, although microwaves are only included in suites with kitchens and at vacation club rooms. Many people, even some of my fellow Disney Parks Moms Panelists, do travel with their own coffee makers to ensure they can start their day with a familiar cup of java. An electric kettle that you plug in isn't too far off from a coffee maker, so as long as you unplug it while you're out of your room you should be fine. However we thank all guests in advance for leaving all hot pots, electric skillets, crock pots, electric pressure cookers, and basically anything that does more than warm water at home.

Should you still need a microwave while at your resort hotel, head to your resorts quick-service dining room. You'll find microwaves for use for everyone near the utensil area. And should you find yourself running low on packing room in your suitcase, you can also find hot water in the self-service beverage area in the same quick-service dining area. It's from the big coffee machine, and is free for all. Just make sure to bring your own bowls or mugs to either make the oatmeal there or bring the hot water back to your room.

I hope this helped and we'll See You Real Soon, Randi!
