Bonjour Nicole,
Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel and thank you for asking us another question.
I think it’s a fantastic idea to have booked a Theme Park View room at
Disney’s Contemporary Resort on New Year’s Eve - I can’t think of a better way to ring in the new year! I’ve unfortunately never had the chance to experience
New Year’s Eve at Walt Disney World Resort, but, you’re right, it can get very busy to the point where, sometimes,
Magic Kingdom Park can be closed to certain Guests (but, rarely Guests staying in a Walt Disney World Resort hotel). I’ve asked around and, based on my understanding, the crowds do thin out once the midnight fireworks presentation is over. Furthermore, Magic Kingdom Park is often open a few hours after midnight on New Year's Eve, even without taking evening
Extra Magic Hours into consideration.
I would play it by ear: if you feel like going into Magic Kingdom Park and playing for an hour or so after giving the crowd a chance to disperse after the fireworks, I say that you should go for it, especially if you have an Annual Pass or you don’t mind using a day of your
Theme Park Tickets for just an hour or two in the Park.
Have a Magical Day,
Lynne
