Ahoy, Sarah!
Welcome aboard planDisney—and from one service member to another, thank you and your husband for your commitment and sacrifice. I'm so glad you're considering setting sail with Disney and exploring the amazing military rates they offer. There’s nothing like trading in the uniform for a pair of Mickey ears and setting a course for some well-deserved rest and relaxation at sea!
Let’s dive into the details! Disney typically releases military rates anywhere from 2 to 6 months prior to the sail date, though occasionally they’ll pop up earlier or closer to embarkation. These rates are based on Disney’s occupancy needs, so they’re not guaranteed for every sailing—but when they do show up, the savings can be practically magical!
Now, I like to keep it real like Goofy at the helm, so here’s a heads-up: Because these rates often appear closer to the sail date, some popular activities—like
brunch at Palo,
Beverage Tasting Seminars, or high-demand
Port Adventures—may already be booked by the time you secure your stateroom. But don’t let that burst your bubble (or your bubbly). My family and I cruise frequently using military rates and have still had great success booking the experiences we’re most excited about.
And if something is full when you book? Don’t throw in the towel just yet! Once you're at the terminal and connected to the ship's Wi-Fi, hop onto the
Disney Cruise Line Navigator app to check for any last-minute openings. You can also swing by Guest Services to ask about a particular onboard activity or attend the Dining Reservations Changes event on embarkation day to join waitlists for Palo, request a dining time change, or make other dining magic happen.
Now for the golden question—can you and your husband each reserve a stateroom using the military rate? Yes, you absolutely can! However, in order to take advantage of the discount for both rooms,
each stateroom must have an eligible military member assigned to it. That means you and your husband will need to be listed as the lead Guests on separate stateroom reservations, with one of you assigned to each room. Be sure to have your valid
Proof of Military Service ready at check-in, as each lead Guest will need to present it for their respective reservation.
I hope this helps clear the deck as you chart your next magical voyage! If any other Disney Cruise Line questions start to bubble up, just send out a message in a bottle—we’re always happy to help you navigate every step!
Sea ya real soon as May brings sunshine, magical ports, and maybe a Mickey bar or two,
Dustin
