A penny for your thoughts, Karen! It's my pleasure to welcome you back to planDisney!
This is such a great question. I had to do some digging, but it was so much fun learning about all the
amazing pressed pennies you can collect throughout the Walt Disney World Resort. You may have even inspired me to take on a new hobby!
While I wasn't able to come up with any "official" listings of which pennies are in which machines, Professor Google did point me to some helpful outside resources. Apparently, pressed pennies are so popular that other Guests have taken detailed inventories of them! I can't link it here, but on a site called Presscoins.com there's a list of all the new 50th Anniversary designs (along with pretty much every other coin of the realm!). When you go to that site, hover your cursor over the "News" tab near the top of the page, then go to "New Coins." Scroll down a bit to see that the Mickey and Minnie 50th Anniversary coins are available in the Main Street Railroad Station location at the
Magic Kingdom Park. There's also a photo there to help you identify it. I can't vouch for the accuracy of this info, but it's a great place to start! If you get to the park and find that the coins aren't in that machine, I'm sure a nearby Cast Member can help point you in the right direction.
I also saw Mickey and Minnie featured on some anniversary themed pressed pennies at
Disney's Contemporary Resort and
Disney's Polynesian Village Resort, so you might want to check for those as well. The designs are specific to each Resort hotel, so they could be a fun addition to your collection!
Karen, what a fun idea to celebrate the
50th Anniversary of The Most Magical Place on Earth in this unique way. Thanks for introducing me to the shiny world of pressed penny collecting! I'm so glad you stopped by to see us again here at planDisney, and have fun hunting for your tiny treasures!
Keep Disney Dreaming,
Kathy K.
