How do I know if my magic bands are available to use

Hi Monnyka, and welcome to planDisney!

It sounds like your visit to the Most Magical Place On Earth is right around the corner, and I can only imagine how excited you must be! If you're anything like me, part of the fun is getting ready for the big trip. One of my favorite ways to count down is by queuing up a few Disney classics that inspired some of the attractions. Jungle Cruise, Haunted Mansion, Peter Pan, and Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs are perfect choices for a cozy movie night and will have you dreaming of your upcoming days in the parks. And make sure to pack your sunscreen, especially if you’re staying at a Disney Resorts Collection hotel, because you can enjoy complimentary admission to a water park on check-in day, a great way to start your stay with a splash. Lastly, don’t forget to rest up before you go! Early mornings and late nights are part of the fun, especially if you're staying in a Deluxe Resort and get to take advantage of extended evening hours.

Onto your question! If you purchased new bands for this trip, the first thing to do is check that they’re linked to your MyDisney account. If you ordered them as part of your Disney vacation package, they should automatically be linked to each Guest on the reservation. You can double-check this by logging into your account and visiting the “My MagicBands and Cards” section. If you ordered them separately, just make sure to link them manually using the ID number located on the back of the band.

If you're planning to reuse bands from a past visit, it’s good to know that Disney estimates their battery life at around two to three years. That said, I’ve had bands still going strong long after that. So while there’s no guarantee, you might find that your trusty favorites are still working just fine. If you’re looking for a fresh experience or just curious about the latest tech, check out the enhanced features of the newest style, MagicBand+. With lights, vibrations, and interactive elements synced to nighttime shows and other surprises around the parks, it adds an extra layer of fun.

If you're not sure whether your older bands are working fully, or if you like the idea of picking one to match your outfit or park for the day, you can always grab a new one once you arrive. My go-to spots are Pin Traders - Camera Center at EPCOT and the Pin Traders store at Disney Springs. Both locations typically carry the widest selection, and let’s just say... I’ve collected more than I can count over the years. I love having options for every park day!

Of course, there are other ways to access the magic, too. Disney’s Mobile Service called Disney MagicMobile lets you tap into the same features as a band using your smartphone or smartwatch. Or, if you prefer something simple, a Key to the World card is also available and can be picked up at your resort’s front desk or Guest Relations.

I hope this helps you feel more confident and ready to dive into the fun that awaits. If you have any more questions, Monnyka, I’d be happy to hear from you again here at planDisney!

    See you real soon!
