how do I know if magic band is fully charged

Hello and welcome to planDisney, Richard. It's always fun to see a fellow North Carolinian stop by to ask a question.

Richard, typically the battery on a MagicBand lasts around 2 years officially. However, I have bands from longer ago than that that still work just fine. From home, there isn't a way to test your band to see if it is still working properly. If you'd like to know for sure, bring it along with you for your upcoming Walt Disney World vacation. Then, when you get to your Walt Disney World Resort Hotel a Cast Member at the front desk will be able to check and see if it is working for you. If it is, great! If not, you can purchase a new MagicBand at almost every merchandise retail location throughout the Walt Disney World Theme Parks and the Walt Disney World Resort Hotels. If you'd rather not purchase another MagicBand, you can also ask the front desk for a Key to the World card. This looks like a typical hotel room key card but with cute designs of Mickey Mouse and all of his friends. The Key to the World card is complimentary and can open your Walt Disney World Resort Hotel room door, grant you access to the Walt Disney World Theme Parks and collect your PhotoPass pictures throughout the day. Virtually it works just about the same as your MagicBand.

If you have the all-new MagicBand+ that was released in July of this year it does have the charging feature. If you have your MagicBand+ paired to your mobile device, you can check the battery via your MyDisneyExperience account. Also, if you have the new MagicBand+ you can press a button on the back of the actual MagicBand and it will light up a color that coordinates with what level of charge the battery has. Flashing red is no batter, flashing yellow is low batter and flashing green is full battery.

I hope this helps, Richard. If you have any other questions about your MagicBand, please don't hesitate to stop back by and ask me. I'm here to help.

    Enjoy your week!

Meet the Panelist: Jackie, North Carolina

I love all things Walt Disney World.  In fact, since becoming Annual Passholders, my family of 3 is always hopping in the car for a quick trip to visit with Mickey Mouse!  I've been known to make the 8 hour each way drive to Walt Disney World (in one day!) to indulge in a Mickey Waffle or enjoy a sunny day at Disney's Typhoon Lagoon Water Park.  I may have a small family, but we are always up for some BIG fun at the Walt Disney World Resort.   Learn More About Jackie
