Hi Alexandra,
Welcome to planDisney and thank you for your question!
There are two types of MagicBands: MagicBand and
MagicBand+. If you have a MagicBand, the bracelet with a thinner oval with a Mickey Mouse shape, then you have the original MagicBand which can’t be charged. You would have this from a prior vacation or if you purchased it earlier this year. This type of Magicband didn’t come with a charger and is simply powered by linking it to your
My Disney Experience mobile app.
Now with MagicBand+, which was released this year, there is a charger that comes with the MagicBand+ in the packaging. This type of MagicBand does need to be charged for it to work and linked (via Bluetooth) to your My Disney Experience mobile app. The charging helps with the
interactive features of the Band! You’ll know if it’s
fully charged if it lights up green around the Mickey shape while on the charger.
Final tip: Remember to head over to the
50th Anniversary statues with your MagicBand+ to hear the different character interactions. Could be a fun way to pass the time in between attractions or while you’re having a break!
I hope this “Bit By Bryanna” is useful as you prepare for your next Walt Disney World Resort vacation. If you have any other planning or vacation questions in the meantime,
please feel free to reach out, I’m always happy to help!
The Magic Is Calling,
Bryanna
