Hi there Erinn, I'm pleased to welcome you to planDisney!
It looks like you're reflecting back on the now unavailable
Leave a Legacy offering that I remember seeing advertised around the base of Spaceship Earth upon entering EPCOT, back when the
Walt Disney World Millennium Celebration had just begun. The resulting structures covered in thousands of faces etched onto steel tiles that some might say were certainly taken for granite (pardon the pun) before these memories were later removed and relocated beyond the entrance turnstiles, which was a similar fate for the
Walt Around the World Pathway that was formerly found around the Seven Seas Lagoon and leading up to the Magic Kingdom Park entrance.
Today however, there currently aren't any offerings available where guests can pay to leave behind a physical memorial of themselves or their loved ones like there were in the past. Instead, you may be able to purchase a
Commemorative Legacy Paver to display, which is a clay replica of the
bricks available in various sizes that can be customized. Though you wouldn't be able to leave these around on Walt Disney World Resort property, they can serve as a nice callback to
these now-retired parts of Disney history.
While offerings may always be subject to change without prior notice, you may still be able to spot machines that sell these either at the
Marketplace Co-Op at Disney Springs or the
Tomorrowland Launch Depot in Magic Kingdom Park; just be sure to give yourself some time for these to be created and picked up. The Cast Member at
D-Tech on Demand that I spoke with today let me know that since these are printed and not etched nor engraved, this can take as little as 30 - 40 minutes. (I purchased one of the larger ones myself and I shouldn't have been so surprised as how hefty it was to carry around!)
Here's to making lasting memories on all of your Disney Adventures!
