Hi there! I know there are EV charging stations at the theme parks as well as at a few resort hotels. To use the chargers at the resort, to I have to be staying or dining at that specific resort? Or can any EV use the chargers?

Hey Howdy Hey Carolyn and welcome to planDisney!

One of the big things that I absolutely love about Walt Disney World Resort other than entertainment, relaxation, and the food to name a few, is their conservation efforts. They are doing so much inside and outside of the parks to do their part to lessen their carbon footprint and change what they do to be more sustainable and less impactful to the environment. This applies to the way they plan menus, solar array developments as well as options they give to Guests for electric vehicle charging stations!

You are right that Disney has many charging stations in the parking lots of the theme parks, Disney Springs and select resort hotels. Anyone that has an electric vehicle can use these stations however not every vehicle is allowed in the resort hotel parking lot. As per Disney policy, if you do not have a dining reservation or you are not staying at the resort, security might not let you into that parking lot. This might be the biggest thing that will prevent you from using the charging stations in the parking lots of the resort hotels. So if you wanted to access a charging station that is in a parking lot of a resort you are not staying at, having a dining reservation is the best way to ensure you will have access to that lot and station.

If you are interested to learn more about conservation efforts in Walt Disney World, in April of this past year, Disney launched a program called Disney Planet Possible. You can find this on Disney Parks Blog which has so many articles that highlight the new and past ways Disney has been working to develop their conservation efforts. One thing that I am super excited about is their solar arrays. Disney is developing two locations to expand its solar capabilities and when they come online, Disney will be able to supply 40% of its energy from solar energy! This is one of many examples of their conservation efforts that I would highly encourage you to check out!

I hope this information was helpful for you as you continue to plan your trip later this year. If you have any further questions please feel free to reach out, we would be happy to help!

    Have a Magical Day,
