I know that Disney World Resorts apply a CC hold when you check in, is it $100 flat or per night? Planning which card to use while we are there so we still have spending money. Hotel is paid 100%.

    Hi, there!

Welcome back to planDisney, Jessamine. We're delighted to see you again! Thank you for allowing us to help you plan your Walt Disney World Resort vacation. It's our very favorite thing to do!

You are going to LOVE being a Guest of the Disney Resorts Collection. There are lots of perks of staying at a Disney Resort hotel, like Early Theme Park Entry, but the one I most appreciate is that we're immersed in the magic of Disney storytelling, even after we've left the theme parks! You ask a really great question about the authorization hold that's placed on your credit card on file. I've stayed at a Disney Resort hotel many a time and have certainly seen the authorization hold on my hotel folio, but I can't say I've paid much attention to when or how often it was added! I did a bit of digging and read (and reread) the Payment Card Policy page on the Walt Disney World Resort website, and it states that in addition to the authorization hold placed on the account on arrival day, "Additional authorization holds will be placed on the card, through and until the end of check-out day, as incidental expenditures exceed the amount previously authorized on the card." Based on that wording, I would be prepared to use a card that can accommodate additional authorization holds if you plan to make charges that exceed the initial hold.

Did you know you can stop by the Front Desk of your Disney Resort hotel to pay down the balance of your room folio at any time during your stay? We like to take several Disney Gift Cards with us on our Disney vacations, so every few days, I take a couple minutes to pay down our room folio with those gift cards. If you purchase your Disney Gift Cards at a big-box retailer like Sam's Club or Costco, you can get quite a good deal. I like to buy Disney Gift Cards at Target with my Target RedCard, which saves me 5% off my total purchase. Those savings add up to magical Disney dollars!

I hope this was helpful, Jessamine. Please let us know if you have any other questions about your stay at the Walt Disney World Resort!
