Ahoy, Gage!
I'm happy to welcome you aboard the S.S. planDisney –– thanks for sailing by with your question! One of my favorite things about
Disney Vacation Club Membership is the flexibility we have to use our Vacation Points to craft the perfect vacation. Whether it's relaxing at a Disney Vacation Club Resort, exploring Disney Destinations around the world, or even blasting off to a galaxy far, far, away the sky's the limit when it comes to creating Membership magic. I'm so excited to hear that you're thinking of using your Points for a voyage with Disney Cruise Line this fall and I'm happy to share a few details to help you throughout the process.
When you use your Vacation Points for Disney Cruise Line, as well as other Disney experiences around the globe, this is known as a
Disney Collection Exchange. While
Points Charts for these sailings are available online, once you're ready to check availability and book your sailing, you'll need to give Member Services a call at (800) 800-9800 in order to begin the booking process. After your reservation has been confirmed, you'll receive a Guest Ticket Booklet with important cruise documents, which usually arrives between 30-45 days before sailing. After that, you'll be all set to embark on the type of high-seas adventure that only Disney magic can provide!
Because booking a Disney Collection Exchange is a little different than booking a Disney Vacation Club Reservation, there are a few things you'll want to keep in mind as your plan for your sailing. Each exchange reservation requires a non-refundable $95 transaction fee, due at the time your reservation is confirmed. Most exchange reservations, including
Disney Cruise Line bookings, are also subject to the
Rule of Four, which means that you won't be able to book a reservation during the last four months of your Use Year if you plan to travel during the same year. And finally, because you'll be
converting your Vacation Points to Reservation Points in order to complete the exchange, those Points can no longer be used for Disney Vacation Club bookings. This means that in the event you need to cancel or modify your cruise, you won't be able to use those Points for reservations at a Disney Vacation Club Resort. Don't worry, though –– your precious Points won't be lost at sea. In the event you need to cancel or modify your reservations, any unused Reservation Points can be used to book another Disney Collection Exchange reservation before they expire at the end of your Use Year.
I'm so glad you stopped by planDisney, Gage. If you think of new questions about your Disney Vacation Club Membership or Disney Cruise Line as your vacation approaches, I hope you'll visit us again –– we're always happy to help!
SEA Ya Real Soon,
Amy
