Hi Payton! Welcome to planDisney.
I’m so glad you “cued up” this great question for us! I had a long chat with a Cast Member to see if we could get an answer in the pocket for you.
While I’ve taken advantage of lots of great
recreation options at Walt Disney World Resort hotels, I admit I’ve never played pool, so thanks for bringing something new to me today! It’s truly amazing how many things there are to do for Guests at the Walt Disney World Resort; I remember learning to play shuffleboard at Disney’s Contemporary Resort, and now I am hooked. So fun!
I like that you did your resEARch and found the
Pool Tables at the Walt Disney World Resort webpage. You’re right that a few of those resort hotels are not currently open. I’m not sure which hotel you’ll be staying at, so I want to ensure you know that at this time, Guests must have a Table Service dining reservation to visit a resort at which they are not a registered Guest. Please see the
resort hotel Know Before You Go information for all the details.
Payton, the Cast Member I spoke with called one of the resort hotels and was told that, due to the current cleaning protocols and restrictions on “high touch point areas,” pool is very likely to remain unavailable. Because the balls, cues, and table would need constant cleaning, and because it’s difficult to maintain physical distancing, this is likely one of the paused recreation activities at this time. If you are staying at one of the resorts with a pool table, I do recommend checking with a Cast Member to see if they have more up-to-date information at the time of your stay, as things are changing all the time.
Sorry if this news is a “scratch” for you, Payton. You might want to give a call to
Splitsville Luxury Lanes in Disney Springs, as I believe they have pool tables (in addition to delicious food and drink). I wasn’t able to confirm if their pool tables are currently operational, but they could assist with any questions about entertainment offerings there.
Thanks for stopping by with this great question and helping me learn something new. I’ll be singing this in my head all day today (sing it to the tune of “Ya Got Trouble” from The Music Man): “That’s pool with a ‘P’ and that rhymes with ‘D’ and that stands for Disney!” I hope you find your pool table, and that you have an amazing visit next month!
Wishing you a magical vacation,
Robyn
