How do I know if my Disney Magic Band from 2018 still works? Thanks

Greetings Tracy and welcome to planDisney!

You’ll have to wait just a second as I grab my purple MagicBand from a trip many years ago! I love my MagicBands! They are a fashion statement, they purchase me cool souvenirs, and they are an everlasting memory from each trip I take to my happy place!

First, though, you do need to make sure that old friend is still active and its battery is strong.  Head to your My Disney Experience mobile app and scroll down to “MagicBands & Cards”.  Tap that prompt and it will bring up your name and any other Guests you are managing.  Tap your name to touch “MagicBand” on the top scroll.  This will show you all of the MagicBands you have, the color, the date added, and the serial number of the MagicBand.  Just below the information box you will see “Activated or Deactivated”.  If you are “Activated” you are all set to go!

Tracy, our good friends the MagicBands don’t really have expiration dates on their tap-and-go features, so you should be able to use the old friend for park entry, Lightning Lane redemption, resort room access and purchases of memory making souvenirs. Your middle aged MagicBand might have issues with some long-range battery features like linking on-ride photos and other long-range items.

I know we all get attached to our old friends, and I usually pick out a relic from my collection to take with me on a trip, but I also have a shiny new MagicBand+ with all the bells and whistles when I want to immerse myself in a fireworks display or a spectacular parade!

Tracy, make sure your color coordinate your wardrobe with your MagicBand and enjoy a Mickey Bar or two! Have a magical trip!
