Hi! I want to know the costumes rules for DW. I want to wear a dress exactly like Cinderella, but knee length (with sneakers and jacket) for MK. And for HS, my brother wanted to wear a robe that looks like a Jedi robe hip length, would that be ok?

    Hiya Cinthya!

Thank you so much for stopping by planDisney with your dress code question. I absolutely love this one, because Disney style is one of my favorite things to talk about! My family and I always like to add a little pixie dust to our outfits. Whether it’s matching shirts for a perfect photo in front of Cinderella Castle or just a touch of character-inspired flair, it always makes the day feel extra magical.

So, let’s twirl right into your question, just like Cinderella at the ball!  According to the Walt Disney World Property Rules, costumes and costume masks may not be worn by Guests ages 14 and older (unless you’re attending a special event like Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party—where costumes are practically perfect in every way).

The good news is that DisneyBounding is allowed! That means you can dress in outfits inspired by your favorite characters—think a blue dress with a headband for Cinderella, or maybe yellow and red accents to channel Winnie the Pooh. Just remember, it can’t be an actual costume, and dresses shouldn’t be floor-length.

As for your brother, I’ve seen other Guests wear character-inspired robes in the parks, usually at hip or waist length. Just keep in mind that Cast Members have the final say, since Disney reserves the right to deny admission if they feel an outfit is unsafe or takes away from the experience for others.

One last tip—fashion is fabulous, but comfort is key!  You’ll be walking more steps than Woody and Jessie in a rootin’-tootin’ round-up, so make sure your shoes and outfit are comfortable for a full park day. And speaking of stepping in style, I also highly recommend adding Memory Maker to your trip. That way you’ll capture every magical DisneyBounding moment—from strolling down Main Street, to striking a pose in front of the Tree of Life—without missing a beat.

Cinthya, I hope this helps you feel ready to add your own Disney sparkle to your park style!  If you have more questions, feel free to stop by and chat with us again.

    See ya real soon,

    Christina
