I know children get lost quite often, but I was wondering what Disney might do if a disabled adult gets lost or separated from their party by chance? Any tips on this?

    Howdy Kimi!

Welcome back to planDisney. We absolutely love it when guests return with their planning questions. Alrighty so I have some experience with this question. When our son was just 5 years old, we were visiting Disneyland as a family. We got off of Star Tours, and in my son’s excitement, he ran down the hall to see all of the Star Wars merchandise. We were only a minute behind him, but when we got there, he was nowhere to be found. Obviously, we were terrified, but we knew that Disney had systems and processes to handle situations like this. Long story short, he knew my phone number and found someone to call us right as we were speaking with a cast member. So let’s go through what you can do and what you can expect in case the situation arises.

I spoke with a cast member, who informed me that, although they cannot share details due to their security policies and procedures, they did tell me the following. The first thing you would want to do is to find a cast member and inform them of your lost family member. You will want to be able to give them a detailed description of who they are and what they are wearing. They said having a picture of them and what they are wearing that day would also be very helpful. They suggest staying in the area where you last saw them, as this is likely where they return if lost. Once found, they will be taken to a comforting and secure area until y'all are reunited.

Here are a couple of personal suggestions we used for our children when they were younger that might be helpful to you. When traveling to Walt Disney World, we always give our children a meet-up place in case we get separated. We also made sure each of them had memorized one of our phone numbers so they could be notified if they were found. One other thing you might want to consider is purchasing a tracking device like an air tag. We purchased bracelets that would hold the device, and they would wear them while visiting.

Kimi, I hope this information will help you plan your upcoming visit to Walt Disney World so you can have a magical time. As always, please visit us again here at planDisney with any questions or concerns you may have.

    See ya real soon,
    Robert
