I know that you can check out other resorts at Disney World, but do they (or have they considered having) have a guided tour set up to see what the resort hotels have and look like? This is something I would really be interested in.

    Hi Wendy!
You ask a very good question, and I would have to say that the answer depends on the resort. For example, even though it is not advertised, I have had friends get a behind the scenes tour of the Wilderness Lodge on their anniversary, finishing up on the roof overlooking Bay Lake. It included lots of trivia and the history/story/theming of the resort.
Thus, depending on where you are staying and/or what resort you may be interested in, I would call that resort directly and inquire if they have any sort of official (even unofficial) tours offered to guests.
If we don't ask, the answer will always be "no." So go ahead, ask away.
    I wish you a Magical trip!! :)
