I want to know if my 360 camera backpack mount will be allowed. It's a "third person" camera mount that has a 11 inch rod sticking up from the back. It reaches just above my head for 360 coverage. It does not extend.

Hiya, pal! Welcome to planDisney! I love that you’re thinking ahead about how to capture your memories—documenting those little moments (and big wow moments!) is one of my favorite parts of a Disney day, and I definitely find myself reaching for my camera often to freeze the fun.

Because your setup is a bit unique, this is one of those questions where the final answer is really up to the discretion of the Cast Members at the security checkpoint. According to the Disneyland Resort rules, items such as selfie sticks and hand-held extension poles for cameras or mobile devices aren’t permitted in the theme parks. While you mentioned that your 360 camera backpack mount doesn’t extend, the upright rod rising above your head may still raise questions at the security checkpoint. Even non-extendable mounts can sometimes be considered unsafe or obtrusive if they interfere with your ability to move comfortably through crowds, navigate queues, or impact the experience of other Guests around you.

Your best bet will be to speak directly with the Cast Members at the security screening when you arrive, as they’re the ones who can make the final call based on the size, shape, and overall footprint of the mount. The good news is that if you’re parking in one of the Disneyland Resort parking structures, it’s usually pretty easy to return the item to your car and store it there if it isn’t approved, so you’ll have a simple backup plan in place.

As a quick planning tip, backpacks and camera gear need to be removed and safely stowed before boarding attractions, so it can be helpful to also think about how easily your setup can be secured when choosing what to bring along.

If you’re looking for other ways to capture great footage with less worry, handheld cameras, chest-mounted options, or even your phone tend to be more park-friendly choices. And don’t forget about the Disney PhotoPass service! Between attraction photos and photographers throughout the parks, it’s a great way to capture high-quality memories while staying hands-free and focused on enjoying the day. You can find a list of PhotoPass locations in the Disneyland mobile app by tapping the map pin icon in the menu at the bottom, and then pressing the “PhotoPass” button above the map.

I hope this helps as you plan your visit! If any other questions come up along the way, we’re always happy to help here at planDisney—consider us part of your planning team.

    Have a magical day!
