Hello and welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, Charity.
As a mom of an Autistic teenage boy, I empathize with your situation. I have experienced the swashbuckling cruises from Disney's
Pirate Adventures Cruise with my son. Our first Pirate cruise was a bit challenging, in that, I had to be present in order to shadow my son, as a 1:1 support. I was allowed to do this as a companion which was perfect and enabled me to acclimate and set boundaries because I wanted my son to experience this a second time unaccompanied, which he did with ease. During the booking process, I spoke with a Cast Member regarding my son's needs and they were able to accommodate us. I don't know how your booking process will pan out, but it's worth a try. I have found that Cast Members always make an honest and sincere effort to afford my son an inclusive and enjoyable experience. There is always hope; please do not give up.
May I offer Disney's
Services for Guests with Cognitive Disabilities, and in particular, draw your attention to Disney's Disability Access Service
(DAS) which may benefit your son's visit. As well, I always reference the
Resource for Guests with Cognitive Disabilities, especially pages 12 and 13 offering sample itineraries similar to a daily schedule board. As well, my son loves the
Pirate Rooms.
