I know August is still a busy time of year, (we are planning for next august second week) what is the best way for our boys 9&6 to enjoy their first visit knowing the crowd sizes.

Hi Jonathan, welcome to the Disney Parks Mom's Panel!

Walt Disney World is a busy place during most of the year and the first 3 weeks of August are not an exception.

Still, planning is a great tool to make the most of your vacation.

First I recommend making advance dining reservations for all the table service restaurants that you are interested in.  Make sure to make your reservations 180 days in advance, as this is the earlier that guests are allowed to reserve.
Taking 1 or 2 hours to sit down and enjoy a good meal is my best way to recharge before heading back in to the crowds.  Having advance reservations allows this to be possible.

Try to always arrive at the parks just before park opening hour.  Not only that you will be able to enjoy the hours with lowest crowds of the day, but you may also enjoy the park opening show.
Late night hours are also a great time to enjoy lower crowd levels - a midday nap is recommended to make the most of really late park hours.

Read as much as you can about the parks and all activities, as this will help you make better decisions while at the park.

Use your own strollers as these will help you move through the parks and resorts, while allowing your kids to be well rested for the entire day.

Driving you own or a rented car will save you lots of time, allowing you more time to spend at the parks or resting.  Taxis are also another way to save time.

If budget allows, resorts like the Contemporary and the Polynesian feature great location and transportation means that will also save you lots of time.

Feel free to ask us again.
