I know my apple watch could be used like a magic band for park tickets, theme park entry. But can I use it for rides (genie+), tickets for special events and as my room key?

    Season's greetings, Catherine!

Thanks for stopping by with your Walt Disney World Resort vacation planning question. We're delighted you've brought your question to planDisney! Oh boy - it looks like you're planning to visit The Most Magical Place on Earth during the most wonderful time of the year. Are you counting down the days yet!? Snowfall on Main Street, U.S.A., holiday music and dazzling decorations throughout the theme parks, and the sweet smell of gingerbread in the Disney Resort hotels... does it get any more magical than that!?

Catherine, Guests have several ways to access the magic once they arrive at the Walt Disney World Resort. Disney bands (AKA MagicBands or MagicBand+) allow Guests to enter the theme parks, unlock their Disney Resort hotel rooms, charge purchases to their Resort hotel folio, access Lightning Lane entrances in the theme parks, and more! Disney MagicMobile service, offered through the My Disney Experience mobile app, enables much of the same functionality. With this complimentary service, Guests may create a digital pass to save to their mobile wallet. Using their Disney MagicMobile pass on their mobile device or smartwatch, Guests can enter the theme parks (including using special event entitlements), access Lightning Lane entrances or virtual queue attractions, link Disney PhotoPass media to their accounts, and charge purchases to their Resort hotel folios.

Disney MagicMobile service won't enable Guests to unlock the doors to their Resort hotel rooms. However, this functionality is available in the My Disney Experience mobile app! Between the mobile app and your Disney MagicMobile pass, you'll be able to take advantage of almost all of the features that Disney bands offer.  The most notable thing you'll miss out on if you opt to skip a Disney band (MagicBand+) is the special interactions with your surroundings in the theme parks and during select nighttime spectaculars. Catherine, if you decide you want to purchase a Disney band, you can find them readily available at most merchandise locations throughout the Walt Disney World Resort!

I hope you've found this information helpful, and I wish you a very-very-merry holiday visit to The Most Magical Place on Earth! If you have the chance, I encourage you to check out the EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays. One of my favorite Christmastime experiences at the Walt Disney World Resort is the Candlelight Processional that takes place at EPCOT during this festival. A Candlelight Processional Dining Package guarantees you preferred seating at one of the performances, as well as a fantastic meal at one of the dining locations in the theme park! Catherine, if you have any additional planning questions, please feel free to revisit us here at planDisney anytime. We're here to help you make magical memories!

    Warm wishes,

    Lauren
