Hi! I would like to know if I am able to hire a photographer for a couple hours at the park. I want to propose to my partner in a specific area but I know there’s no photographers there. Can you help me?

    Hi there, Karina!

Congratulations! Preparing to embark on your own "Happily Ever After" is such an exciting milestone and I am so thrilled for you and your partner. My husband proposed to me at Disneyland Park 16 years ago this month, and it's still one of my very favorite memories!

As you mentioned, Disney PhotoPass Photographers are typically stationed in set locations across the theme parks. While that's great news if you're planning to propose in front of Sleeping Beauty Castle, it's less helpful if you've got a special spot that is more secluded. The first solution I'd recommend is asking for help from a local friend or family member who could join you and capture your magical moment. I know I would be thrilled to take photos for a friend who wanted to propose! Honestly, I'd be happy to go and take pictures for anyone if I had the chance, so ask around!

If you don't have anyone who can join you for the day to take photos then I would try reaching out to Disney's Fairy Tale Weddings & Honeymoons. You can contact them through their online form or by calling (321) 939-4610.

Even if you don't use a Disney PhotoPass Photographer to take photos of the actual proposal, you can still use them to take some celebratory photos afterward! It would be the perfect day to purchase Disney Genie+ Service to download all of your digital photos taken by Disney PhotoPass Photographers. One of my very favorite photos from the day I got engaged is from Space Mountain when my new fiancé held up my hand to show off the ring for the ride photo! Was I slightly terrified it was going to fly off? Yes! But it didn't, and I do love that picture.

There are lots of other ways to celebrate getting engaged at the parks, too!

    • You can pick up a complimentary button from Guest Relations with a message like "I'm Celebrating" or "Happily Ever After"
    • Ask to be sprinkled with pixie dust and happy thoughts at the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique in Fantasyland (I just did this myself recently and I was sparkling for days)
    • Purchase a special personalized souvenir from Crystal Arts or Plaza Point, or pick up some wedding-worthy ears from the Mad Hatter
My best recommendation is to find a quiet spot to sit with your partner to store the core memories from your day. My husband proposed to me on the platform of the train station on Main Street, U.S.A. and we still try to find a few minutes to sit up there on each visit. It's just nice to have a spot that is special to you as a couple that you can always visit again!

Karina, I hope these ideas help you get even more excited about your engagement! I'd love to help you keep planning if you have other questions, so just send me a note and I'll be back with more pixie dust. Congratulations again!

    Keep moving forward!
