Hey Kevin!
Welcome to
planDisney!
Fellow photographer here! One of my favorite things to do at the Happiest Place on Earth is take pictures. I love taking pictures of my family, but also enjoy taking pictures of the landscape, characters, and nighttime spectaculars! I try to capture those magical moments on camera and love looking back to experience what I was feeling in the moment. I’ve got some great
photography tips for you to read that will hopefully make your picture-taking experience a little better.
It looks like you’ve done some homework and have checked the list of
prohibited items at the Disneyland Resort. As you mentioned, tripods and monopod stands that fit the size requirements are allowed inside of Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park. They cannot extend over 6 feet and must fit inside of a standard backpack when folded up. I’m happy to report that I have brought tripods both big and small into the parks without a problem. It sounds like the tripod you are trying to bring is about 45 inches tall, which is way under the 6-foot requirement so you should be good to go. Please know that Disneyland Security has the final say on what you can bring inside of the parks. Also, please know that you cannot use your tripod or any other item as a selfie stick and any rules related to a selfie stick must still be followed. Please be courteous of other guests and do not attempt to use your tripod as a selfie stick.
Well Kevin, I hope you are able to bring a little bit of the parks in the form of a photo back home with you.
Remember, always believe in the Magic!
