Hiya Krystle!
Welcome to planDisney, the most magical place on the internet! I am so glad you decided to stop by and ask us this magical question, as I got the chance to experience the New Years' celebrations at the Walt Disney World Resort a few years ago, and it was so magical. There is, in my opinion, no better way to start a new year than by visiting a Disney destination!
Like every other holiday, Disney likes to "go big or go home" when celebrating, and New Year's Eve is no exception. The celebrations usually start on December 30th with the Magic Kingdom Park fireworks and celebrations, so I typically recommend going to Magic Kingdom Park on the 30th and celebrating the New Year at EPCOT on the 31st. On New Year's Eve, you will be able to find
extra-special celebrations at each theme park, though they may vary. Most include dance parties and seasonal merchandise and decor, but Magic Kingdom Park and EPCOT are where you will find the famous fireworks! However, the celebrations do not have to stop when you leave the theme parks. Some of the Disney Resort hotels have had special treats in the past to celebrate the New Year, so definitely keep an eye out for those unique offerings throughout the Walt Disney World Resort. My biggest tip would be to keep an eye on the
Disney Parks Blog, as they typically release more information about the special New Year's Eve offerings closer to the Holiday season! Also, make sure to get plenty of rest throughout the day as you will be staying up late for those special celebrations.
While at the Walt Disney World Resort, you will also be able to experience some of the Holiday offerings as the Christmas season typically lasts through the first week of January. Indeed, one of my favourite things to do is visit the
gingerbread displays and the themed Christmas trees around the Disney Resort hotels. My favourite has to be Disney's Grand Floridian Resort and Spa, as you can actually buy gingerbread cookies from their display every year! In addition, the
EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays also typically runs through the end of December, so you should be able to try its special treats or catch a performance of the Candlelight Processional. These offerings make your visit so memorable, and I always try to plan my trips around the EPCOT festivals.
I hope this was helpful, Krystle, and that you and your Ohana will have the best day ever ringing in the new year at the Walt Disney World Resort. If you have any other questions, please don't hesitate to reach out! After all, as Minnie said, the best kind of magic is the one we make when we're all together.
Have a magical day,
Ariane
