Hello Peggy, and welcome to planDisney.
Oh my goodness, how exciting it is to plan a festive holiday vacation! I see you'll be arriving after Christmas, but don't worry; Walt Disney World will still offer you the royal
tree-tment because the parks and Resort hotels will still be
spruced up with holiday pixie dust. I'm a
sap for a beautiful, sparkling Christmas tree, and you'll find some of the most beautiful ones in The Most Magical Place on Earth.
So, let's discuss the holiday weather in Florida. Since you're from Minnesota and I'm from Ohio, we both know what the icy chills Elsa conjures up can feel like. Florida's weather in December is quite different from what we're used to, but it can still be chilly, and the key to staying comfortable is layering.
The average high temperature is around 75°F, while the average low is about 53°F. I usually find the mornings to be a bit brisk, so I often head to the parks wearing capris and a t-shirt, layered with a sweatshirt or jacket. I also bring along a hat, gloves, and a scarf in case the morning is particularly chilly. As the temperature warms up during the day, I can put my coat or sweatshirt into a backpack. If you'd rather not carry a backpack, you can
rent a locker to store your items until you need them again. Then, when the sun sets, I can put my layers back on.
Rain chances are lower in December, but I still like to carry a rain poncho just in case. Before your trip, checking the local Orlando weather will also help you determine what to pack. Overall, the weather in December is very pleasant, making it a great time to visit.
I want you to have the most magical trip, so watch the
Disney Parks Blog in the coming months for announcements about the holiday season. You will likely be able to enjoy the
EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays, which is fabulous! At this event, you'll have the opportunity to taste holiday foods from around the globe, participate in holiday traditions from different cultures, and enjoy the
Holiday Cookie Stroll! This is my family's favorite holiday tradition!
I'm happy you stopped by with your question, Peggy. As you plan your winter vacation, please feel free to visit us again. We love our holidays around here and are happy to sprinkle a little holiday magic on your plans. It's been a pleasure to meet you.
Happy planning,
Shonette
