Ahoy there, Kim! Welcome aboard planDisney!
Wow, you're just a few weeks out from your cruise, and unless you're just curious about
Castaway Cay, looks like you'll be making a call on the best private island in the Bahamas if you ask me!
The
Castaway Cay Getaway Package Port Adventure is a great way to get everything you need to make an already perfect day even more perfect! A tube or raft, snorkel gear, and a bike rental? What more could you want? I'm always surprised at how many Guests overlook bike rental, as it's easily one of the most enjoyable things to do while docked!
I have great news, Kim: many of the child-sized bikes are outfitted with training wheels! So if your little sailor is ready to see the bike trail, observation tower, and the fabled airstrip in that fleeting time between cones of soft serve and your delicious lunch from Cookie's BBQ, they're in luck! There are also adult bikes with child seats attached, so if the little ones aren't feeling up to the task, you have another option!
With the Castaway Cay 5K still being run without a group start, my ordinary suggestion for Guests with children to wait about an hour or two before renting bikes for the 5K traffic to clear is not a concern! You and your crew should be clear for take-off whenever you'd like - just be sure to check the weather. Oh and as a bonus planDrew-approved tip, I definitely suggest bringing a pair of closed-toe shoes and a drawstring bag, sling bag, or backpack to hold any belongings while you ride. The bikes may be cruiser-style, but they don't have a basket or anything!
File that one under "tell me you've had to ride the bikes trying not to crash while holding everything you brought to the island without telling me you've had to..."
Well, you know where I'm going with that, haha.
Hope that puts you at ease about booking the Castaway Cay Getaway package for your entire crew, Kim! Thank you so much for your question, and if you have any others as you finish planning, please drop me another line here at planDisney!
Until then, may your anchor be tight and your compass true!
