Hi Kimberly. Have been to WDW for my b'day before and am planning another for May 2010 (Mom's day). May also book 1st DCL cruise (4 night) as well but can't decide if I should do cruise for b'day or book before or after WDW BLT stay. What would you do?

Personally I enjoy going to WDW pre-cruise and then heading to the port from there. We have also done a cruise and then gone to WDW but I find the other scenario much more relaxing.

First, if you go to WDW pre-cruise, you won't have to pay for an extra night hotel just to fly in one night before your cruise. And I highly recommend flying in at least one day prior to your sailing date. Otherwise, it's much too stressful worrying about travel delays and getting to the ship on time.

Consider that a cruise is also a wonderful way to unwind after a vacation in WDW. For my family, it's a perfect way to relax before heading back to reality.

I'm not sure what time of year you will be celebrating your birthday,  however May is a really nice time to cruise. You may also want to price a cruise for your birthday and also for your May 2010 trip and see if either offers any discounts.

So, consider which time of year you would be able to get to the ship at a more leisurely pace and not have to fly in and sail on the same day. Which trip will offer the best discounts at sea? And which vacation time will the weather be best for cruising?

Are you thinking about flying in just for the 4 night birthday cruise? If so, you might consider the cost of the flight. If you have the extra vacation time, attaching a cruise to your already planned WDW vacation would save in travel expenses to WDW. Of course, sometimes it's nice to just getaway on a shorter vacation and the 4 night cruise would allow you to getaway without taking a full week away from home.

At least this is a fun dilemma!

If I can help any further, please just let me know.
