    Hi Kimberly! Since you have stayed at the PO French Qtr can you tell me if the travel times to the 4 parks was longer because this resort is further away from the parks than most. We want to spend alot of time @ the parks. Would the distance be a problem?

    We have never found transportation (nor the distance to the parks) a huge problem at the Port Orleans French Quarter. Disclaimer: we’ve always stayed here in January.

    Approximate en route transportation times:
    Magic Kingdom - 10 minutes
    Animal Kingdom - 15 minutes
    Hollywood Studios - 15 minutes
    Epcot - 10 minutes

    You will then have to factor in wait times. Typically buses are suppose to arrive at least every 20 minutes. When you must be at a destination by a certain time, I would allow 60-70 minutes (waiting and travel time) in the busy season. I’d rather be somewhere early then stressed about getting there on time. But there’s something to be said about getting to sleep in a little later too. Buses are shared between both Port Orleans resorts, but Port Orleans French Quarter is the first to be picked up and the first to be dropped off.

    Port Orleans French Quarter has one bus stop. If the bus is full, it usually will not proceed to Port Orleans Riverside for more passengers but will go directly to your destination. We’ve generally waited about 15 minutes for a bus to arrive.

    Are there times the buses are frustrating? Yes! If it’s the busy season there can be over-crowding and standing for the entire route is not my idea of fun.

    However each visit the bus transportation seems to improve. For instance, when you exit the Magic Kingdom at night, Port Orleans French Quarter will have its own bus stop (not shared with Port Orleans Riverside). During very busy times such as during the morning “rush hour”, pick up is often at Port Orleans French Quarter and then only at Port Orleans Riverside’s South Depot. During less busy times, the bus does continue on to all the stops inside Port Orleans Riverside.

    The Sassagoula river cruise to Downtown Disney is a wonderful way to travel, although it’s faster by car.
