Hi Kimberly, I like reading your tips on the best days to visit certain parks. We're making our 3rd visit in Aug, we've never taken advantage of EMH or paid attention to crowd levels. Have we been making a mistake & are the crowd levels higher?

    Donna,
Don't worry. I'm just an obsessive planner and researcher. It's a hobby for me. I also take notes on every WDW vacation of what worked well and what didn't go quite as planned. Over the years, I like to think that I've perfected our itinerary. But, I'm also learning to be a bit more spontaneous too.

Crowd levels in August are very high. If you are used to traveling during the summer crowds, you'd probably be very surprised by the peaceful touring at the end of January, for example. We've eaten in counter service restaurants where we were the only diners in the whole place! But during the off-season more attractions are down for rehab and the parks close very early at night.

During the off-season, we love the Extra Magic Hours because they give more touring time to an already very short day. This June we hope by avoiding the Extra Magic Hours that we will be steering clear of some of the crowds.

I have a good friend who always goes in August with her family. I think WDW has some thing to offer guests all year-round. In August, you have more crowds and the heat, but you also have longer hours and less attractions closed for renovation. Also during the Summer you have more resort time by the pool and can enjoy the water parks too!
