Hi Kimberly! Possibly going on a cruise in Sept. '10. I have a passport book, but my mom and 1 other traveler doesn't. Went to USPS.com and see that a passport card is cheaper than a book. Are passport cards accepted in place of a book for the cruise? Thx!

Currently, U.S. citizens may travel internationally via land or sea using a traditional passport or the passport card.

Yes, the passport card will be an acceptable document for your upcoming cruise.

However, I would note that a passport card is not valid for air travel. This would be a concern if for any reason the card holder needed to return to the U.S. via an airplane.
