Hi Judy,
Doubloon Lagoon, the
pool at Port Orleans French Quarter (POFQ) is absolutely festive! While teens and adults can enjoy the pool slide, I'm told by my now 12-year old son that it's kind of lame compared to slides at other WDW resorts in that it's not as steep, fast, or long as other pool slides. It's also not enclosed which suits me just fine but for thrill-seekers looking for a fast-paced, curvy, steep, tunnel-like ride into the pool, they may find the slide at this resort to be rather mild. Follow the link that I provided above to see a picture!
Despite the lack of thrills, the pool is large and in a beautiful courtyard setting overlooking the Sassagoula River. And the slide is well-themed to the pool area as it is fashioned after a sea serpent (named Scales) with the serpent's tongue as the actual slide.
The maximum pool depth is 4 ft 5 inches with the slide emptying into water that is 3 ft 6 inches deep. There's a hot tub nestled nearby in a beautiful garden area.
Remember that when staying at the POFQ, to check out the adjacent resort, Port Orleans Riverside. As sister resorts, you'll have swim privileges there as well! And my tween tells me that the slide at Riverside has some twists and goes faster!
I truly love the charm of the Port Orleans French Quarter with the meandering pathways, beautiful lights, and exceptional landscaping. If the slide isn't the main lure of your swimming time, the Port Orleans French Quarter pool will be a pleasant respite for a relaxing afternoon or evening.
Thank you for your kind words!!! If I can help any further, just let me know. Wishing your family a pixie-dusted WDW vacation!
