Hi Kimberly! Heading on West Med cruise in 3 weeks! Was wondering about La Spezia. Was it easy to get to the train station to get a train to Pisa? We are booked with Disney right now, but might want to do on our own. Thanks for any info or directions!

There's a couple different routes to walk and two different possible train stations. I recommend using google to get a La Spezia map. In addition, get a train schedule at www.trenitalia.com!

    Here's how:
Plan to tender by 8:30 a.m.
Exit the port by 9:15 a.m.
Head Left on Viale Italia (pedestrian walkway) to Viale Giovanni to Viale Fillippo. Straight to the train station. If you are running late, take a taxi as the walk is inland and then uphill. Alternatively, you can also follow signs to the Railway station from the pier which take you inland a bit earlier. Take a look at a La Spezia map so you can envision the walk. I would taxi if you are traveling with young children.

It's a 15 minute walk to the train station. It's a small station called La Spezia Centrale.
We took the 10:06 am train to Pisa, arriving at 10:57 am.

For Leaning Tower Square try to get a train that stops in Pisa San Rossore Station. After you exit the train you will walk through the "subway" which is the path underneath the tracks. Once you emerge, walk straight outside the gates and make a hard left onto Via Andrea Pisano. Walk straight ahead and in less than 10 minutes you will see and be at the Tower.

If you get off at Pisa Centrale (some trains do not stop at Pisa San Rossore), take a taxi to the tower.

We ended up getting off at Pisa Centrale and took a taxi to and from the station. We found traveling in Italy by train to be a wonderful part of our Mediterranean Experience.

Enjoy the cruise. It's a memorable voyage!
