Hi Kimberly. Where did you find the $79/week car rental rate? We woud like to rent a car but I cannot find anything even close to that price. Thanks for your help.

    Hi!
Wasn't that just the best bargain!

    Here's what I do:
I search all the car rental agencies at their individual websites. I try different  combinations of discount codes and coupon codes which I find via many sources. Start at mousesavers.com. You can also find them by googling. For example search "national coupon code".

I usually spend a lot of time trying different combinations (using a particular credit card, trying my AAA membership, etc). Sometimes all it takes is switching to an intermediate car and then it works out less expensive than an economy. Know that some discounts are only good for intermediate level and above.

That $79 deal was the best I've ever gotten. The discount code was only good for a couple of weeks.

Also, as soon as I find a reasonably good deal (anywhere near $100 for 7 days) then I book it. You can then use the car rental websites (Alamo and National are the ones I've used recently) to keep checking for new discounts.

When we went to Disneyland last year, I got a 10 day rental for less than $120. I used my American Express because Alamo was offering 15% off and then later I found a coupon code too that simply deducted the new offer off of my total bill. Love a bargain!

It does take a lot of research and effort but it certainly helps with our vacation budget!
