Welcome to
Disney Parks Moms Panel, Sara!
Great questions!
You are correct:
Disney Dining Plans are available for children ages 3-9 and adults are those ages 10 and up. Children under 3 are welcome to share from their parents' and siblings' plates, and you'll have no problem getting an extra plate on which to place your little one's meals.
Moreover, you are welcome to purchase items, including a 2nd kids' meal, an extra side, an appetizer or extra dessert if you feel that the amount of food you can share with your younger child might not be enough for a rumbly tummy.
When my little one was 2, we'd pack a travel, toddler-sized utensil kit and fill his plate with a bit from everyone's meal. He has always been a good eater, so we'd sometimes order a side of pasta, veggies or potatoes which would give both kids some extra variety. Adult portions are generous, too, so you'll likely have plenty of food for everyone to enjoy. Our favorites,
buffet restaurants, offer your toddler his or own plate too!
When you are on a Dining Plan, you are able to use your entitlements as you see fit. At times, our 10-year-old preferred a kids' meal and her little brother, then 7, wanted something on the adult menu. We'd order accordingly, giving each the meal he or she desired. 1 adult entree, 1 kid entree. Win-win.
Ask your server for options when ordering at each location, as they are very creative when it comes to providing guests with exactly what they need while dining in
Walt Disney World.
Happy planning, Sara! Be sure to send more questions as you think of them; we love to help!
