Hi Katherine,
You must be so excited about your upcoming Walt Disney World vacation! What a special multi-generational trip this will be with not just your children but also your parents. I am sure it will be one you all look back upon fondly for many yEARs to come!
Katherine, if you are looking for a Walt Disney Resort hotel which will allow you to travel to the Walt Disney World Theme Parks without having to take complimentary Disney Resort bus transportation, the most convenient option would likely be one of the monorail Resorts. These Resorts include
Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa,
Disney's Polynesian Village Resort, and
Disney's Contemporary Resort. All of these Resorts provide access to Magic Kingdom by monorail or boat. as well as easy access to Epcot by monorail.
Another great option is
Disney's Wilderness Lodge, which will provide convenient boat access to Magic Kingdom. While there is no monorail access from this Resort, the room rates do tend to be cheaper than the monorail Resorts.
While Epcot Area Resorts including Disney's Yacht and Beach Club Resorts and Disney's BoardWalk Inn are also conveniently located just a short walk or boat ride from both Epcot and Disney's Hollywood Studios, given the ages of your children, I expect close access to Magic Kingdom would be most preferable.
Katherine, I hope these suggestions are helpful to you as you continue planning your trip. Should you have any other questions, please let us know. We are here to help and want you to have the best possible Disney vacation!
Magically Yours,
Trish
