My kids and I are visiting DL for the very first time Aug 5-8th 2014,we are staying at the Disneyland Hotel,do you have any special tips or advice other than the usual for a first time kids ages 9,28 and 30..thank you

    Hi, Elizabeth!

I’m glad you’ll be visiting The Happiest Place on Earth and staying at the Disneyland Hotel. The furnishings have a touch of retro Disneyland charm, and you’ll see nods to Walt Disney and the early days of the theme park in the décor.

Have a touring plan in mind before you arrive. Make time for everyone to look at the Disneyland Resort website and make a list of must-dos. You’ll want to take advantage of Disney’s FastPass service and Extra Magic Hours when possible to make the most of your time in the parks.

Make dining reservations for any table-service meals you might like to enjoy. Blue Bayou is my favorite restaurant in Disneyland Park. It’s located inside the Pirates of the Caribbean attraction, and the gently-lit “outdoor” atmosphere is like no other dining experience! Be sure to try Flo’s V8 Café in Cars Land at Disney California Adventure Park. The décor is inspired by drive-up diners and features a spectacular view of cars speeding by on the Radiator Springs Racers attraction. Pay close attention to the Cadillac Mountain Range in Cars Land—the six peaks of the range represent Cadillac tail fins from 1957-1962! Take advantage of a World of Color dining package at Disney California Adventure Park so you can enjoy a special meal followed by a viewing of this must-do show from a prime reserved location.

There are so many picture-worthy views to capture at the Disneyland Resort.  Aside from the typical photo spots, I like to seek off-the-beaten path locations. My favorite in Disneyland Park is Snow White Grotto near Sleeping Beauty Castle with statues of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, a cascading waterfall, and a lovely bridge with etched wooden hearts leading to a wishing well. I hope this helps, Elizabeth, and that you enjoy a wonderful Disneyland Resort vacation with your family!

    Wishing you magic,
