Want to take the kids out of school to go to WDW when it is less crowded (all other times we've been has been extremely crowded). What time would be less crowded first week in April, last week in April or Mother's day weekend in May? Thanks for your help

    Hi Holly,

My second rule about Disney World is that it tends to be less crowded when schools are in session.  So you have the right idea.  Since you have flexibility in your planning, you want to visit Walt Disney World when schools are in session.

Of the dates you propose, I would eliminate the first week in April.  I find that many college Spring Breaks occur in March and into April.

The last week in April may be your best bet, if you are talking about the week starting Sunday April 27th and not Sunday April 20th.  Many schools schedule Spring Break around Easter, so some schools may be out of session the week of April 20th.  Otherwise, Mothers Day weekend shouldn't be overly-crowded, but may attract some Mothers Day traffic.

(In case you were wondering, my first rule about Disney World is to wear comfortable shoes).

    Enjoy your vacation.
