Our kids received Disney gift cards for Christmas and want to use them during our Disney trip but don't want to worry about losing them. Can we store them in the Disney app to use them to pay for food and merchandise some how?

    Hi there Sean!

Thank you so much for submitting your question today and welcome to planDisney! I see your trip is coming relatively soon, you must be so excited! I absolutely love the planning process of a Disney vacation so I am thrilled to be helping you today.

Disney Gift Cards make some of the most magical gifts, don't you think? Your kids must be so excited to use their own gift cards in the parks! The good news is that you can absolutely use your Disney Gift Card at available locations throughout the Walt Disney World Resort, including through your My Disney Experience mobile app. Although you cannot link it as a Payment Method in your account, as this option is either for credit or debit cards, you can enter the number of your Disney Gift Card at checkout when ordering food or purchasing merchandise through the Merchandise Mobile Checkout. Since you will need to enter the number of the card every time, something you can do is write the number down in your notes app so you can simply copy and paste it when your kids are ready to checkout.

Unfortunately, MagicBands cannot have a Disney Gift Card linked to them as a form of payment. However, if you do decide to purchase MagicBands for your stay and link them to the card you used for your hotel room reservation, you can link this card to your kids MagicBand and then pay back their purchases with their gift cards at the lobby of your resort. I understand that this is not as fun as using their own gift cards themselves in person though, so you could also look into getting them lanyards with little pouches or wallets so they can keep their cards on them. You could even look for ones with your kids' favourite characters so they can become part of their Disney memories!

I hope this was helpful, Sean, and that your kids will have the absolute best day ever at the Walt Disney World Resort! If you have any other questions in the time leading up to your trip, don't hesitate to reach out. We are always happy to help!

Have a magical day and I am sending you all the pixie dust for your upcoming Disney trip,
