My kids are planning to make droids at the Droid Depot at Disneyland in July. I have seen backpacks online that people have made to carry the droids. My question is whether there is some type of carrier available for purchase there at Galaxy's Edge?

Galactic greetings to you, Sara, and welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! I sense the Force is strong with you and your family, so I’d love to help you plan for your upcoming visit to a galaxy far, far away!

Your children are going to have a blast building their own custom astromech droid units at Droid Depot! My son had the chance to build his R-series unit last fall, and what an awesome experience it was! He still plays with his droid all the time, and even brings it with him when he returns to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge! In fact, he brings his droid to the parks in the special backpack he purchased after building it. So, I’m happy to report that there is a handy droid backpack available for purchase in Droid Depot. It’s made of a thick canvas material, and it cinches with a drawstring at the top. It’s navy in color, and it reads “Industrial Automaton Astromech Droids” on the front of it. There’s a side pocket, and a neat zipper feature that allows Guests to open it up so their droids can communicate with other astromech droid units, as well as other elements and objects on Batuu. Using a remote-control device to operate a droid isn’t allowed in the theme parks, so this is the perfect solution to still get the most out of your droid experience. My son loves exploring Batuu to discover how his droid will react to certain elements, depending on our location.

Your children’s droids will initially be put inside a cardboard carry box. After spending a long day in the parks, the handle on my son’s carry box wasn’t as comfortable to hold on to, so I highly recommend purchasing the droid backpack, or utilizing the complimentary Package Check Service. This service is available to all theme-park Guests, and can be done at any of these locations: Stroller Rentals (located just outside the Main Entrance of Disneyland Park, and adjacent to the Kennel), Elias & Company (Disney California Adventure Park), Port Royal (Disneyland Park), or The Star Trader (Disneyland Park). Your droids can be held at any of those locations until park closing. Droids and handbuilt lightsabers can also be held at Droid Depot, though they would also need to be picked up by park closing. If you're park hopping, the Stroller Rentals location may be easier to get to at the end of the day, since it’s located on The Esplanade between the two theme parks.

While exploring Batuu, I recommend using the Play Disney Parks mobile app to live out your very own Star Wars adventure! From scanning encrypted cargo, to hacking into droids, the missions are so much fun, and will keep your whole family entertained!

Wishing you safe travels on your epic journey to Batuu, Sara! May the Force be with you!
