I would like to take my kids to a nice dinner now that they're a bit older and for a special treat...ages 11,10 & 8 in August. Recommendations? Thanks! So excited!

Heather the countdown has begun! Later this year you will be right in the middle of the magic zooming down Space Mountain, eating Mickey ice cream, and flying over London with Peter Pan!

Taking your family's dining to the next level for a special treat is a lovely idea. Some of my favorite Disney memories are of the exceptional meals my family has experienced. Our favorite fancy spot is the California Grill atop Disney's Contemporary Resort. The view, the innovative menu, the attentive servers, and welcoming atmosphere make this restaurant perfect for families who want a special dining experience. Balconies on either side of the restaurant offer spectacular views of Walt Disney World. Even better than dessert, guests may return and watch the Magic Kingdom fireworks from the balcony no matter what time their reservations were. California Grill is scheduled to close for refurbishment in February and reopen late summer. When you visit in August, hopefully the restaurant will be reopened, shiny new and gorgeous.

In case California Grill does not open in time for your vacation, consider Jiko-the Cooking Place. Located in Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge, Jiko is the first upscale restaurant we took our four children to. The seasonal selections, fresh design, and slightly exotic flair create a wonderful dining experience for all ages.

Another wonderful choice for a special meal would be Artist Point in Disney's Wilderness Lodge. Eating among beautiful paintings and murals with an attentive server is an elegant experience. Pacific Northwest specialties and seasonal offerings are options here.

Please contact me if you would like additional information on these restaurants or anything else. Enjoy your special, magical meal with your family.
