Do all my kids need the Disney app to work their magic bands?

    Hi Nicole,

Thanks for bringing your question to planDisney today. It sounds like you're in the final planning stages for your visit this weekend and I know you must be SO excited. I'll also be celebrating my birthday at The Most Magical Place on Earth this weekend, and I don't know how I'll even get to sleep tonight. Let's make sure you're tech-ready for a magical trip!

If you currently manage your kids' My Disney Experience Accounts you won't have to worry about them downloading the My Disney Experience Mobile App for use with their MagicBands or MagicBand+. In fact, my children aren't quite old enough for their own accounts just yet, so I've been managing their tickets, linked MagicBands, and Disney Genie+ Service selections through my app. If your children are over age 13 and have already created their own My Disney Experience Accounts, you can still manage all the vacation plans for them like dining reservations, Virtual Queues, and Lightning Lane entrances as long as they are linked to your Family and Friends List. I recently detailed the steps for managing a travel party for another guest. Your children will have the same functionality using their MagicBands once everything is linked.

Halloween is in the air at Magic Kingdom Park so be sure to take time to admire the beautiful decor down Main Street, U.S.A., and stop for a specialty seasonal snack, too. I have my eye on the Apple Fritter Milk Shake from Auntie Gravity's Galactic Goodies, but there are plenty of festive treats to enjoy at Disney Springs and the resorts as well. Speaking of snacks, the EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival will also keep you busy snacking around World Showcase. My husband and I have a long list of drinks and food items we're hoping to taste test this weekend. Wish us luck!

Nicole, if you need any additional assistance please come right back here and let us know. You're also welcome to visit with the Guest Experience Team in the parks if you need help during your trip.

    Magic and memories,
