My kids will be 4 and 16 months at the time of our vacation. While my 4 year old would love the TRex restaurant, I have concerns the dinosaur animatronics could scare my 16-month-old. Do you have any recommendations regarding age-appropriateness of TRex?

    Hi Lisa,

Thanks for stopping by the Disney Parks Moms Panel with this question. T-REX at Disney Springs is one of my family's very favorite restaurants. It is so much fun to dine among prehistoric creatures, and my three kiddos love the periodic meteor showers!

As you might expect, T-REX is loud and the animatronic dinosaurs are large and and life-like. There are themed rooms depicting various primordial landscapes. Approximately every 20 minutes, there is a meteor shower and some rumbling. If your little one doesn't like loud noises or dinosaurs, it might not be the best choice. That said, we took my littlest one when she was 18 months old, and she was captivated by the sights and sounds; she loved all the activity! Ever since, it has become a "must-do" for our family.

Here's an idea: You can ease your little one into the experience and see how it goes. There's a retail shop right inside the restaurant called the Dino-Store. You can hang out in the shop for a bit and let your little one take a look at everything that's going on. Also, you can request to be seated in a particular area if one room seems to work better for your family than another. For example, my family enjoys the Aqua Room where we feel like we are dining under water! It seems to be a little bit calmer in that area as well.

Quick Tip: If you decide to go, consider the Chocolate Extinction for dessert. This colossal fudge cake with ice cream is enough for four people to share. The Chocolate Extinction even comes to your table with a dry ice smoke effect!

I hope this helps, Lisa. Please stop back again if you have any other questions! Wishing you magical memories,
    Erin
