Hey Howdy Hey Katie and welcome back to planDisney!
I am so glad your daughter will be able to be with her best friend during her birthday celebration at Walt Disney World Resort. On her trip, things will work a little differently if you, her parent or guardians are not there. Let's go through the details of her charging options and some other options you may have.
When on vacation to Walt Disney World, if you are staying onsite at a
Disney Resorts Collection hotel, the adult responsible for the reservation will be in charge of the check-in process. This involves creating a PIN that is needed to complete transactions with MagicBands on the property and will be charged to the credit card on file. If you will be there with your daughter, I would double-check at the front desk that she does have charging privileges on her MagicBand. If not, then we have to consider different options.
In the case that you may not be with your daughter and are unable to link her band to a reservation with your credit card, you may need to consider the purchase of a Disney gift card. In many cases these days, you can either have the physical card she carries around, wear it on a lanyard or bracelet, or you can digitally upload it to her phone. If she does have either a Google Wallet or Apple Wallet, these typically can hold Disney gift cards. She will be able to access them during her trip for purchases from her phone if she has one.
If you do go with a gift card, she should be able to access this for all of her purchases while onsite in Walt Disney World. I hope your daughter has a Magical time with her friend on her upcoming trip. Please let us know if you have any further questions, we are always happy to help!
To Infinity and Beyond,
Nick
