Can my kids take iPad and Nintendo switch hand held device on the Disney dream ?

Ahoy there Maria! Thanks for sailing our way here at planDisney with your question about small electronics on the Disney Dream!

With everything there is to do on a Disney Cruise Line vacation, we'd all like to think that there'd be no reason the little sailors would need iPads or Switches, right? As a gamer myself, even I usually leave my portable gaming systems at home whenever I'm sailing with Captain Minnie and the gang. Alas, there are times where I suppose it could be nice for them to have like waiting for embarkation, traveling to or from the ship, or cases of general boredom...which I for one have never experienced on a Disney Cruise Line vacation!

I have good news when it comes to these items. iPads, portable gaming consoles absolutely can be brought aboard the Disney Dream! The one thing of which to be aware though, is that connecting them to the shipboard internet is something that comes at a cost, and the Connect@Sea onboard wireless packages can be eaten up quickly by the data used by internet-connected apps and games. I'm sure Ralph, Vanellope, Felix and the gang would back me up on this.

If I were to choose, I'd probably lean toward bringing the Switch since the games themselves are less likely to require connection to the internet to be able to enjoy fully. But with all the fun to be had at youth clubs like Disney's Oceaneer Club, Disney's Oceaneer Lab, Edge, Vibe, and all the family activities around the ship, I'd be surprised if your kids even find time to play games! I know back when I was a kid on the Disney Magic for my first cruise - and in prime video-gaming form - I can't remember a time I even broke out my handheld consoles, there was just too much to do!

I hope that helps you set a course on bringing those electronics, Maria! Here's to such a fun-filled Disney Cruise Line vacation that even if you do decide to bring them, that they never even get turned on! Thank you for sailing our way with your question, and if you have any others as you continue planning please drop me another line here at planDisney!
