I have 2 kids interested in the Key to the World cards! I know we are able to get cards at our hotel, but we are wanting to head straight the parks upon arriving. Can I get our first cards at the parks, Epcot specifically, or do we have to go to the hotel?

Hi there, Caitlin! Welcome back to planDisney! I am so excited to see that you have a trip to the Most Magical Place on Earth scheduled for this May, and I am thrilled to help you with this question!

Before MagicBands were a thing, Key to the World cards were king! Our family was always excited to see which character we would get. They're cute and collectible, but they're also pretty handy. Your Key to the World card can serve as your park ticket and - if you're staying at a Disney Resort hotel - your room key. The cards provide Lightning Lane access, connection to your PhotoPass images, and the ability to charge purchases to your room, if linked to a payment method. Many guests use a MagicBand+ or the My Disney Experience App, but the Key to the World cards work just as well and are still an option.

Good news, Caitlin! You can pick up Key to the World cards for free at Guest Relations in any of the theme parks or Disney Springs! I'm so glad that you will be able to head straight to the parks! There are three Guest Relations locations in EPCOT, including one just outside the main entrance. A Cast Member there will be happy to help you.

While you're in EPCOT, I want to suggest one of my favorite spots to grab a snack: Kringla Bakeri Og Kafe. The name is a little tricky for those of us who don't speak Norwegian, but the treats here will make you want to learn the language. Located in the Norway Pavilion, they are known for their School Bread, but you can't go wrong with any item on the menu here. Plus, they have a nice shaded seating area in the back that tends be less crowded.

I hope this is helpful, Caitlin, and that your trip planning continues to be successful. I think the planning is half the fun! We here at planDisney love experiencing the magic of the Disney Parks, and it is our joy to help others do the same. We want you and your family to have a magical vacation, so please don't hesitate to let us know if you have any more questions!
