We have 4 kids, their current ages are, 6 years old, 3 years old, 2 years old and 1 year old. We would like to go on a cruise in 2026. do we have to get two cabins or are there rooms for 6 people.

    Hiya, Kimberlee!

As a parent of a family of six also, I know how overwhelming planning for travel with a larger-than-average family can be. Our first cruise almost didn't happen because I felt frustrated trying to figure out how to make it all work. When we decided to look into Disney Cruise Line, it finally all made sense. The family-friendly nature of vacationing with the Disney Cruise Line not only made our first cruise experience incredibly magical, it also made us begin to love cruising. Just today, I booked our family of six on yet another cruise. It will be our 14th cruise with the Disney Cruise Line!

To answer your question, yes, there are a few suites on the Disney Cruise Line ships that can accommodate six or more passengers. The amazing concierge tower suites on the newer Wish-class ships of the fleet can sleep up to eight Guests! But I'm going to be honest with you, Kimberlee. I can't afford those suites. Even the two-bedroom suites on the classic ships that sleep up to seven Guests are beyond my vacation budget. But that's OK with me. Here's the secret that I've discovered about cruising aboard the Disney Cruise Line: it's not only more affordable to book two separate rooms for my family, but it's also way more convenient. The added savings are very welcome. That way, we can afford to go cruising more often! And the convenience comes in the form of easily multiplying the amount of space we get and the amenities included with that space.

Instead of upgrading to a suite on the upper decks that we can't afford, we "downgrade" to two rooms on a lower deck. As a parent of a larger family, I bet you'll appreciate the biggest perk of this arrangement: with two staterooms, we have double the number of bathrooms available to us! With Disney Cruise Line's innovative split bathroom design available in the "Deluxe" stateroom categories, it is effectively as if our family of six seemingly has four bathrooms to use. That is a luxurious benefit that I don't think we'll ever want to give up now.

Here's how to easily book two staterooms with the Disney Cruise Line so that the rooms are not only adjacent to each other but also have connecting doors so that you effectively have a two-room suite with plenty of storage and bathroom facilities:

    1. Start from the Find a Cruise page
    2. In the section for Guests, select "Add Another Stateroom"
    3. Put at least two people, including at least one adult, in each stateroom
    4. Fun step: Choose the itinerary that looks the most fun to you and your family and click "Continue"
    5. Clicking "View Staterooms" will ask you to verify your party size and makeup
    6. At this point, use the toggle switch for "Connecting Rooms"
    7. Select from the available staterooms; selecting any one room will automatically select both of the connecting rooms
    8. Proceed to the cart to finalize your reservations

I hope you have a most magical cruise aboard the Disney Cruise Line, Kimberlee. We'd love to be a continuing part of your Disney vacation planning here at planDisney. You are welcome back anytime.
