How does a kids credit for the dining plan work at lounges and places with no kids meals? Especially the drinks, are they limited to certain drinks or prices?

Hi Candice, and welcome to planDisney! We’re so glad you found us and stopped by with this great question. I’m a big fan of the Disney Dining Plan, so I’m thrilled to help you with this!

With the Disney Dining Plan, you will receive one table service credit, one quick service credit, and one snack credit per person, per day. Many lounges now accept the dining plan and require one table service credit per person. At all table service locations, including lounges, children ages 3 to 9 with a dining plan will be required to order off of the kids’ menu if one is available. In some cases, you may be asked to order from the kids’ menu at the associated restaurant, if the lounge is connected to one. However, when no kids’ menu is available, they will be allowed to order from the adult menu.

It is important to know that most lounges serve small plates and appetizers, so you may not get as much food as you would at a traditional table service restaurant. Additionally, not all lounges serve dessert, which you would normally be able to order on the dining plan at table service restaurants. I love lounges and try to stop by at least one on every vacation, but I usually just weigh whether it’s better to pay out of pocket and save my dining credit for another meal. A really fun new family-friendly lounge to try is The Beak and Barrel. It's a lively pirate tavern in Magic Kingdom Park filled with playful details and lots of fun moments for you and your crew. This location is not currently included on the dining plan, but it's well worth a visit for a swashbuckling good time!

When it comes to drinks, adults will have one alcoholic beverage included with the dining plan. Kids are allowed soda, juice, or milk in most cases, but they are often also able to order specialty drinks like milkshakes, smoothies, and non-alcoholic specialty beverages. This will vary based upon location, and your server will be able to tell you what is available at each one. Drinks served in souvenir cups are usually not included.

Candice, I hope this information helps as you start thinking about how to use your credits on the Disney Dining Plan! If you have any more questions, stop back by and see me. I’m always ready to dish up more details to help make your vacation even more magical!

    Your pal,
